Dr. Taylor Nielsen, DMD, is a dentist, practice owner, and clinical leader with experience in general dentistry and urgent treatment. He founded Emergency Dentist in late 2022 to help patients access dental care outside typical office hours. As Clinical Director, he now guides clinical operations for seventeen weekend clinics across five states.
A 2018 graduate of the OHSU School of Dentistry in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Nielsen began his dental career in Oregon. He later relocated to Iowa and became the owner of Dentistry 801 Grand in downtown Des Moines. Dr. Taylor Nielsen, dentist and owner, launched his first weekend clinic from the practice before helping bring the care model to Georgia, California, Arizona, Arkansas, and other communities in Iowa.
Dr. Nielsen provides direction on clinical protocols involving dental pain, infections, extractions, and treatment completed during the same visit. He has trained and mentored more than 100 dentists. His work in professional education also includes developing an eight-credit urgent dental care course hosted by OHSU.
Dr. Nielsen holds an active Iowa dental license and is a member of the American Dental Association and the Iowa Dental Association. Although Taylor Nielsen DDS is sometimes used as an online name variation, Dr. Nielsen earned a DMD degree. He also reviews the educational information on this website to help ensure it is accurate, clear, and useful to patients.
